God's Giggle

I admit it --- We've been VERY VERY lax about going to church the past year! When I say "lax", I mean waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too lax!! Embarassingly lax. Especially since we both grew up in church and know better!!!! MUCH BETTER!!!
However, we did something about it this morning. We decided to attend a smallish baptist church near our house with our dear friends. The wife and her boys had attended this church off and on for several years, but like us, got out of the habit of going. So, we decided....let's get back in the groove together. Today was the day!!
And Satan struck........the weather was NASTY!!! The rain came in sheets and then buckets!! THIS WAS SLEEPING WEATHER!!!! We had to dash to the car and we all got wet even though we tried not to. On the way, we had to take AJ his clothes since he had spent the night with my girlfriends family on the spur of the moment last night. Of course I made him come out to get them....I wasn't getting back out if I didn't have to. :-)
Sooooo, my girlfriend says - worship starts at 9:45. Let's get there around 9:30 to get in and sit down beforehand. No problem - that'll also get us in there in time to get Luke to the pre-school dept. So, AJ is riding with them and we head on over to the church....Pull into the parking lot and the marquee says --- SUNDAY WORSHIP 10:30AM!!! This is where God's giggle begins.
We pull in and I immediately call them and say......uhmmmmm, didn't you say that church starts at 9:45? She says, yeah - that's what time it used to start, why? Welllll, the sign says 10:30!!! Heheheheh --- so, said GF goes to check the website. Sure 'nuff, 10:30.
Well sis, what do we do? Come back to your place, go home, go to Sunday School? We're all ready to go so it doesn't matter to us. All the while it's POURING DOWN RAIN!!!! The decision is made to go back to their house for the interim and then head over. It's only 5 minutes from their house.
Moments after we got to their house and went in to wait, the rain stopped and the sun came out. We hung out, chatted and got to church in plenty of time. The youth minister was preaching and he was really good. So good that the boys all want to go to youth group on Wednesday night. We met several people and saw people we knew.
Sooooo, we're going back next week at SS time and try that out. And I want to get involved with MOPS when Syd comes home. It's the first time I've been this excited about a church in a while.....wonder if this is our new church home?

good on ya! It is exciting to find a church where you feel good, fit in and can grow in Christ. I know Satan usually circles and hovers his "best" on Sunday mornings, good for you and your friend that you did not give him a foothold.

God just keeps blessing you and blessing you!
