More not so great news - When will it end?

The oncologist has now reviewed the most recent MRI's and is noticing that there are more areas around the optic nerve/bone that have cancer spots on them. They could not see this initially because of all of the swelling around the tumor prior to the surgery. Now that the swelling is going down, it is being noticed.
We are being told right now that it seems to be Stage IV cancer. Her oncologist is meeting with other oncologists at UAB's University hospital today and see what they think, what's next, what to do as course of treatment, etc. If there is nothing else, they will do chemo/radiation and try to buy her some time. Otherwise, there is no cure or remission.
We have contacted another oncologist who is a family friend to see about getting a 2nd opinion. Hopefully he'll get back to us today or tomorrow. He was well trusted and respected in the oncology world so we are hopeful that he can tell us more.
Good gosh - when will it end? When will someone be able to tell us something concrete? Do I really want to hear it? It's not like I can walk around with blinders on. I am worn out - Alan is worn out. We're all just beat down.....this is just the icing on the cake. Some very bitter icing on a really yucky cake.

Praying for God's peace to rest upon you, Alan, and your precious mother-in-law and family. Expecting God to do above and beyond what we could hope or imagine....Linda
