What doesn't kill you makes you stronger,

RIGHT?? Please tell me that is true because right now I am holding on by a thread!!! Here's the Readers Digest version:

Arrived in to GC at 5pm Friday night instead of 1130am.

No luggage until 930pm and a suitcase wheel is missing.

Saturday our contact in GC that was helping us move thought we were coming NEXT weekend .... out of the city on vaca.

Get another guy to help and we get to Antigua about 230pm.

Was told there would be other foster families in this place......uhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ..... NOPE!! Anxiety attack begins.

Find a "Subway Sandwich" place a few blocks away and finally eat. In the process I realize that I am NOT in the spot I thought I would be and begin to cry on the way back. Decision is made to go back to the city and spend oh, a kazillion more dollars on everything! Another anxiety attack creeps in.

Get back to GC at approx 900pm and get the last room at the Tikal Futura, where we stayed Friday night. Sydney is BEYOND exhausted and has a temper to boot.

All I have time for now - I'll be moving rooms today and hotels later in the week. Alan leaves to go home on the 1015 shuttle. Then it's just me and Syd. The thought is almost more than I can bear right now. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea afterall.

Anyone up for a trip to GC????

Oh Kristi...I'm sorry the fostering trip has gotten off to a rough start. Hopefully once you get settled in and become comfortable with the situation everything will improve. I'm sure it will and you can start enjoying the experience!

Wish I could hop a plane and hang out with you...but I'm not sure my boys would go for that. :)

Girlie!
Stay in the city. Book your room at LatinDestinations.com for 69.99 per night including taxes and breakfast! You will be much happier at the Marriott with families coming and going. I will be there in 6 weeks! Let me know if you need me to do anything from here. Email me your phone number. I have a calling plan for Guatemala, and I will call you.

Hugs and hang in there!

Are you going to stay in GC or try and find a place in Antigua? I'm sure you are on the fostering group on yahoo - do they have suggestions on where you can stay? It will be okay...

Hey. E-mail me and I will put you in touch with my friend, Bethany who is in Antigua staying in a beautiful home. She will be coming home in about 2 weeks but I'm sure that you guys can work something out. Hugs!!!

You don't know me, but I'm from an Guat. adoptive parent. Elli came home in Dec. I've been praying for you and Sydney. You are doing such a wonderful thing for your precious baby girl. It will get better. I believe that. I am so sorry for the heartache you have endured. I know your heart is faint and you must be scared and feeling like there's no end in sight, but there is! I cannot wait to see that you've been passed on to the big guy and you have a signature from PGN! I wish I could hop a plane and come help. Even though you wouldn't know me from Adam! Hang in there. You are strong. Very strong. If not you, then God in you fighting for your child!

Love from Texas,
Crista

I've been a lurker for a while now. WOW what a weekend you've had. I hope you can focus on the awesome joy of being with sydney to try and put all the other feelings of fear and despair and freak-out-ness to rest. I'm sending calm happy thoughts your way.
