Guatemala - Trip 4 - Day 2
What a fabulous day!! Sydney went to bed at 9pm(sat.nite) and slept ALL THE WAY THROUGH UNTIL 8am. Woke up in the best mood - all smiles and giggles....well, until she decided she wanted a bottle. RIGHT THAT MINUTE!!! Let me tell you - this girl knows what she wants and she WILL cry huge crocodile tears and until we get it right.
Some things we had planned for the morning didn't work out for whatever reason. We found out later alot of things are going on and we feel (as do Tammy & family) as though we MIGHT actually be making some progress. We're keeping our guard up but we TOTALLY feel God's mighty hand in making things happen.
So, back to the day itself. Went down to one of the best "continental breakfasts" I think I've ever had. Sydney will eat ANYTHING you put in her mouth. This chica can flat out eat!! During b'fast with Tammy, Stokes & Robbie, we just got to revel in how awesome God is and how His hands are all over this place. There's a HUGE mission group staying right here in hotel. God is here with us and Alan and I feel our faith growing by leaps/bounds during this!!!
Sunday afternoon, after a much needed siesta, we went to lunch with Brenda's family. Pancho's is the best mexican place EVER!!! Oh my goodness! The 4 of us had the ""Pancho's Special". Marinated pork with pineapple in a tortilla, beef tenderloin, chicken, rice and the best frijoles (beans) I have EVER eaten!!! We ate until we looked like we could all explode!!!
Following lunch, Brenda & Julio took us to an authentic market. Not one of these nice pretty "touristy" type places. It was full of the sights and sounds of the country. There were food vendors, fruit/veggie stands, an altar to San Lucas that people go and pray at, people were selling bunnies, chickens, birds, puppies, hamsters.... you name it!! ALL UNDER ONE ROOF!!!!
There were many shops where you could purchase all types of things --- jackets, shirt, beaded jewelry, leather goods, pottery...everything! There were children everywhere and some of them even ran their families shops --- and I mean LITTLE kids -- maybe 6 years old. It was such an incredible experience!!! Without Brenda and her fabulous family, we would have NEVER had this opportunity. We are so thankful to see our children's birthcountry FIRST HAND!!! It was just AWESOME!!
Stay tuned for pictures and day 3.................
