Please let me tell you about my day....

It started out as any other plain old day. Last day of school for winter break. The kids were only there for a 1/2 day....everyone was just thrilled that we were getting a two week break. It was a GOOD DAY!! Then my cell phone rang at 11:25.....

The screen read daycare. That's **NEVER** good. I answer the phone like this -"Sharon or Kim, please do not tell me he's running a fever!!" Sharon says - sorry it's 103.4 and he will NOT eat anything. I tell her to isolate him until I can get there. I had to finish up some things at work and then get there. I walk into the center and he's just laying on his cot looking all red and hot and tired and sweaty and puney!! It broke my heart!! BROKE IT I TELL YA!!! Decision was made to take him in to the urgent care down the road from my house. one hour and 45 minutes later, we finally go to a room. Twenty minutes later the doc comes in and starts the exam. My sweet boy has a severe double ear infection and since he's been exposed to strep he gets tested for that too.....thank heavens it came back negative. Doc gives me a rx that would cover strep --- JUST IN CASE!! 30 minutes later and a call to the benefits line b/c the claim wouldn't process, we head home. Luke and I are both EXHAUSTED and HUNGRY!!

Get home, check the mail (which still hasn't been sorted) and I look up to see our devil dog coming over the fence to chase the car because she was happy to see us. Wrangle the dog into the garage and the sick kid into the house.

It gets good finally -- Phone rang in the exam room and Alan says, you're not gonna believe this.....what, I said. His company was holding a NATIONWIDE competition and his location won for the month. He was in a group of about 10 or so people that had the highest averages for something or other. Ya'll he WON a whopping $500!!!! I was in shock!! Unreal!!! Also, we found out that Alan got a new schedule yesterday. His current schedule is M,T, Th, Fr, Sat 10-7/11-8. The new one begins on 01/20 is M-F 9:30-6:30......NO MORE WEEKENDS AND HOME FOR DINNER!!!! YIPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
