Day 1: Sydney's Arrival

At 5:00pm, we received "THE CALL" that they were in the lobby and we needed to come meet them. Mandie and Tammy were still with us so they headed down too. We enter the lobby and there stood Hector (from the agency), Viviana (Fostermom) and my sweet girl!!! I ACTUALLY DIDN'T CRY! Can you believe it?!?! We asked them to come with us to the room and then Viviana handed her to me and I couldn't believe she was finally in my arms!!! She smelled like soap and baby lotion. She was in the cutest little hat with those big brown eyes looking up at me like "Who the heck are you". Sydney warmed right up to her Daddy and Me. Nothing could've made us happier!

We went to the room and talked a bit. Hector had wonderful English and it was nice to be able to sit and talk to him and Viviana. Turns out they were calling her "Jenny"...not Sydney. She was more than happy to start calling her the name we are giving her. They only stayed about 10 minutes or so but Viviana was on the verge of tears. We told her thank you over and over before they left. We really do have a fabulous fostermom and I know she is getting great care.

Around 5:30 she started getting fussy and she slept about 20 minutes. Woke up screaming like a banshee. She was burping and pooting like crazy (sounds like she'll fit right in at my house)!!! Her tummy was solid as a rock. What's the one thing I DID NOT pack - GAS DROPS!!! I immediately call Mandie and fortunately Tammy is a nurse and had something for her. They came down a few minutes later and gave her some medicine. 15 minutes later, Syd was back to her happy self. About an hour later she was even better - we got our first NASTY diaper!!! WOOOOOOO - Luke and Aaron would have been proud!!!! :-)

After treating ourselves to Pizza Hut in our room, Mandie, Tammy & Izzie retired to their room for the night. We went to bed about 10pm and crashed. Sydney woke up about 11 and was fussing a little. I popped in that paci and she went out like a light. At 4:30 she woke up and wanted to eat. The paci was still in her mouth and she was in a GREAT mood! Sydney took about 4-5 ozs and played for about 10 minutes. We both dozed back off around 5:30. I woke up at 7:30 and Sydney woke up about 8:15. She is such a happy girl and she was ready to go!
